AhsaAZ Update: Tue, 19 Jul 2005
By Sonu Munshi
Time for a roundup of past and upcoming events/actions at Asha. Things are hotting up (yes, yes, lousy pun totally intended!), with WAH in full swing and Notes of Hope ’05 round the corner. We need every one of you to help publicize the events and SELL TICKETS for NOH!!! When, what, where, how…? Read on…
WAH ‘05
Work An Hour 2005 is up and running and as of July 18, $9797 have been raised! The initiative is on till Sep 5. Let’s all at least send a link to all our friends/contacts to raise awareness about it and hopefully add to the donation amount. Check out this link: http://www.ashanet.org/workanhour/
NOH – Amjad Ali Khan
Now’s the time to crank up our efforts in publicizing what should be a fantastic concert with Amjad Ali Khan and his sons.
Event Date: Sep 11, 2005
Venue: Scottsdale Center for the Arts
Time: 5:30 pm
We will have a meeting THIS WEDNESDAY, JULY 20, 7:30 pm to iron out the details in organizing the event. Got ideas on publicity, have contacts for sponsorships, know friends who love attending concerts? We need everyone to be a part of this BIG fundraiser to make it a success. Hope to see you all at Memorial Union in ASU!!
The next monthly meeting is on August 3rd at ASU.
TELECONFERENCE
At the last projects meeting, it had been suggested that Asha AZ members teleconference with a project contact to get a one-on-one update and basically become more involved with all the projects in which we as a chapter are involved. Watch out for more info on this front in the coming week. In the meantime, read up about the projects on: http://www.ashanet.org/arizona/projects_newformat.shtml

AND FINALLY…
We have a NEW VOLUNTEER PROFILE. Yes, it’s been a while since we did one of these! Welcome Ravi and Chandrika to Asha AZ!
Ravikant Atreya grew up in Calcutta, India. After completing his BE from REC, Trichy, he came to the US in 1999 to do an MS at the University of Missouri-Rolla. After graduation in 2001, he worked for Intel in Seattle, WA and moved to their Chandler, AZ site in 2003.
He and his wife, Chandrika, have been married for 3 years and currently live in Ahwatukee. Chandrika is a software engineer at Inter-Tel, a telecom company in Chandler.
Ravi had heard about Asha in Seattle, but was not involved with it there. After moving to Arizona, he heard about the local chapter and decided to take on a more active role. As they say, Seattle’s loss is Arizona’s gain J
