Description
of current school facilities (building, equipment etc.) : |
|
1.
The School is functioning in a rented building of eight rooms as
against twenty three classes. 2.
The furniture provided is very modest. 3.
One Computer is provided in the School to impart the basics to the
children. 4.
The School has a Mini Bus for commuting the children and teachers. Besides, a hired Bus. |
|
Describe the
potential improvements required in facilities : |
|
1.
The School needs its own land and building for enabling to get CBSE
recognition and provide education to many more children. 2.
School Bus was acquired second hand and is more than ten years
old. Needs replacement to avoid the
recurring maintenance cost and to comply with the latest pollution control
norms. |
|
What are the perceived improvements seen for the last year? |
|
1.
A few more rooms consisting additional space taken on rent thereby
more covered area obtained to conduct classes. 2.
The first batch of students who passed out last year in 10th
standard have successfully passed out in their 11th standard exams
and are in 12th standard. 3.
All round development of children and scholastic improvements
perceived. 4.
Skill and effectiveness of dedicated teachers increased. |
|
What are the
problems you have faced last year? |
|
1.
For quite a few days the School had to be kept closed during the last
rainy season as the approach road was very badly damaged with lots of
potholes making the School Bus vulnerable for accident. Noida Authorities were approached and
persuaded to repair the roads. 2.
The low salary offered to the teachers is still a constraint in
getting regular and experienced teaching staff at this rural location
especially for senior classes. 3.
Disruption of classes due to irregular transport service. |
|
What do you
think is the overall effectiveness of this Project over the past year? |
|
1.
The School has been achieving improved results in a very satisfactory
manner with regard to imparting education to the deprived children in a
comparatively lesser cost. 2.
The children are getting more extra curricular activities and getting
better exposure outside the School through the “ASHA” sponsored educational
tours. |
|
What are you
doing to become self-reliant for the future : |
||
|
1.
Efforts are ongoing to obtain funds for the purpose of corpus fund. 2.
In spite of our preference and efforts it has been difficult to
become self-reliant. It is fervently believed that this will take quite a
long time to achieve as the income generation programmes also suffer due to
lack of space. |
||
|
Anything
else you would like to note : |
||
|
1.
We would like to emphasize that there is an urgent need to obtain
CBSE recognition to avoid the cream of the students opting out of the
School. To enable this, we need funds
to acquire land. 2.
Sai Vidya Vatika is another
Project of Saikripa which imparts non-formal education to the street
children at Shirdi Sai Samiti, Sector-40, Noida. These children normally loiter around Sai Mandir expecting to
eat temple’s prasad whenever distributed they are given free midday food,
stationery items and uniforms. The
children will go later to the formal School in and around Noida. The cost towards the provision of these
items needs to be supported. After
the non-formal class, these children are provided formal education in the
afternoon at a nearby School. We hope
to enroll them in Sai Shiksha Sansthan once they complete the fifth standard. |
