Attendees: Sampat, Devaki, Prachi, Abhyuday, Satheesh, Vikram, Anu, Priya, Yash 1) Planning for ISA Garba Nite * Asha should have a presence at ISA Garba Nite on Oct 1 * We need to collaborate with ISA on this, so that we can sort out permission issues * Vikram to discuss with ISA President about whether we can have the following: Asha table containing flyers, signup sheets, merchandise (no selling), Asha banner and Asha slideshow. Also Vikram should check where we can put up all three of these in the room. Vikram should also check if ISA will allow us to sell dandiyas. Vikram should also check whether we can get 1-minute slots for talking about Asha during Garba Nite breaks. * We need to have Diwali diyas by Garba Nite, as they will sell fast. Devaki to let Sowmya know about the number of diyas that we need to place an order for, so that they arrive in time for Garba Nite (which is still 10 days away). 2) Planning for ISL Coffee Hour * We decided to have two Indian snacks and chips/cookies and drinks. * The most prevelant idea that came up was to check if we can get samosas catered from Indian restaurants here. Priya to check about pricing with Neeraj Sharma on last year's catering of samosas for ISA's Coffee Hour. * The other snack was decided to be some dry snack item (like baakarwadi, kachori) from some Indian grocery store in Atlanta. * We need to make sure that we utilize the entire $275 from ISL across these food items. * We will have the same publicity material and merchandise as for Garba Nite. * We all will buy & wear Asha T-shirts on that day. Everyone has committed to purchase a new Asha T-shirt. Satheesh to send out emails for sizes. 3) New fundraising ideas * Anu brought up ideas that we can have Friday night events at (a) Athens skating ring, and (b) Showtime bowling alley. Anu to contact these two businesses and check on details about whether we can possibly have a night for Asha, where we can possibly reserve the entire place and revenue from each attendee is split between business and Asha (plus indian music, table, etc.) * We also discussed the idea of badminton tournament. Satheesh and Sampat to follow up on this with Ramsey Center and Badminotn Club. * Yash and Sampat will also discuss with Cricket Club the possibility of doing a cricket torunament fundraiser for the benefit of Asha. * Snack sales was also discussed as an idea, as it was successful last time. * Indian date auction was a novel idea proposed by Anu. Need to give it an Indian touch if it has to be successful - possibly good for next sem around V-Day. 4) WAH 2006 * Everyone to please urge friends and family to donate to WAH 2006 as it has been extended to first week Oct * We should use Asha-Athens' commited project Sandnya as part of the promotion. 5) New Chapter Co-ordinator and Treasurer * We have.a new chapter co-ordinator! ! In fact, we have two, i.e. a team of co-ordinators. Yash and Prachi have volunteered to be the chapter co-ordinator team for Asha-Athens. They have taken as the new chapter co-ordinators, as of today. * We still DO NOT have a new official chapter treasurer. Maria is still listed as the official treasurer, and Abhyuday is the informal treasurer. * Volunteers believed that they needed more time to think of that. * This position will surely need to be nailed down in next meeting. Next meeting: 7pm, Thursday, Sep 28 2006 at Tate Center lounge near room 352.
