Asha for Education is a secular organization dedicated to change
in India by focusing on basic education in the belief that education
is a critical requisite for socio-economic change.
Asha has supported more than 385 different child education
projects spanning 24 states in India. Since inception, Asha has disbursed
nearly $4,000,000 to projects. In 2002 alone, Asha chapters raised and disbursed more

A bit about the cause that I am running for:
About myself:
I am a graduate student at Georgia Tech. When I am not working, I like listening to music, watching movies and running.
My running history
I have been running on and off for the last 5 years -- out of sheer desperation to break free from the increasingly sedentary lifestyle. Typical running distances have been 2 - 3 miles( 5 Km). Sadly, I also have a long history of running related injuries like runners knee and shin splints. Given this running history, half marathon definitely is a challenging task ahead. I have been training with Team-Asha for the last couple of weeks and I am lovin' it.
Why am I running a marathon?
I am running the Atlanta half marathon to support Asha for Eduaction, a charity organization that I have been volunteering for a year. I am committed to raise $100/mile - a sum of $1310, that will go towards Asha's educational projects in India.
I was blessed with a happy childhood, which has made me what I am today. There are so many children in my country, India, who cannot afford basic education or cannot have a normal childhood I had taken for granted. This is my own little way of doing something for these people. Please join me in my effort by donating for this cause.
