Asha's Purpose

Asha for Education is a secular organization dedicated to change in India by focusing on basic education in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change. Asha has supported more than 385 different child education projects spanning 24 states in India. Since inception, Asha has disbursed nearly $4,000,000 to projects. In 2002 alone, Asha chapters raised and disbursed more than $1,000,000 to over 200 projects. Profile

Hello kind donors! My story begins when I volunteered at Grady Memorial Hospital ER here in Atlanta. Another premedical student and I realized that we wanted to go into medicine because of its humanitarian possibilities. We travelled to India together to expand our perspectives about health and education. What I experienced there has encouraged me to steer my life towards working for the underpriviledged. In the meantime I am taking the opportunity to do something small for those people. It is well known that education and health often share similar fates, and I hope that you will join me in trying to spread the gift of education and its lifelong benefits to those who might otherwise not have that chance. Running History
I played soccer from the age of 6 until my second year of college. The running that entailed is pretty much the sum of my experience so far. Training for the half marathon has been a trying and rewarding experience!
