Asha's Purpose

Asha for Education is a secular organization dedicated to change in India by focusing on basic education in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change. Asha has supported more than 385 different child education projects spanning 24 states in India. Since inception, Asha has disbursed nearly $4,000,000 to projects. In 2002 alone, Asha chapters raised and disbursed more than $1,000,000 to over 200 projects. I am a graduate student and running this marathon to raise money for the education of underprivileged kids in India. I would be very happy if you can support this cause by making a donation. Running History
I have been running for the past few years and have taken part in few 5k runs and one half-marathon in 2006. The half marathon was part of the Asha fund raising effort. I completed the half-marathon in 2 hours and 11 min. I plan to better it this time by completing it under 2 hours. As part of the training, I have cumulatively run over 150 miles which includes, one 12 mile run, two 10 mile runs, four 8 mile runs and several under 8 mile run.
