Asha for Education is a secular organization dedicated to change India by focusing on basic education in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change. Asha has supported more than 800 different child education projects allover India. Asha has disbursed nearly $15,000,000 to projects in last 16 years. In 2008 alone, Asha chapters raised and disbursed more than $3,000,000 to over 300 projects. A few months ago I read the book "3 Cups of Tea" and I was amazed at how much someone can achieve in a developing world in the education sector. This was a move away from the cynicism experienced from my formative years in Mumbai.
I came to know about Asha for Education and the great work they do. And this year I have embarked on this project to complete the half marathon along with raise money for the good cause.
This is my first half marathon. I hope I can give Forrest Gump a run for his money one of the days in future
