2. Tsunami Proposal – Cuddalore, Bharathi Trust



- Introduction to the proposal

- Four villages majorly affected. Agaram Pudu Nagar - Waiting for land to be acquired

- Irulas are not recognised as Tsumani affected. Most people were related to fishingTheir occupation was dependent on fishing, or other occupations affected. 

- MGR Nagar - 65 families were not helped by the government. 

- How was the land bought/acquired? 

- Per house cost is Rs 50,000. What is the break-down?

- South Pichavaram - Govt provided land and is not building homes 

- Add links from blog (Sanjeev's) to the project proposal

- Where are they being rehabilitated?? Are they being moved??

- There is no ceiling on the projects for tsunami 

- We plan to try and get support for the North Pichavaram village - approximately $30K

- How are the mud-blocks built? 

- What are the other activites they are doing in this area (Cuddalore) ? Who are the partners? 

- Where are people living, since they are not recognised by the government?
