1. We had Attreyee from NYC/NJ here in Austin this weekend. She has
been working with Asha for 5 years. It was a good opportunity for us
to discuss about the project she supports and understand the working
of her chapter. Attreyee first talked in detail about the project she
supports "Sankurathri Foundation" in Andhra Pradesh. Details about
the project can be found at:
http://www.ashanet.org/projects/project-view.php?p=281
We also discussed a bit about how her chapter functions. Some of the
things we talked about were how STAR projects work in their chapter,
and how they organize and co-ordinate meetings.
2. Santhosh talked about "Below the poverty line in Rajasthan Survey".
Details about the survey can be found at:
http://studentorgs.utexas.edu/aidaustin/projects/lss-prayas/bpl/
Santhosh to send out a petition with updates.
3. Briefly discussed about how to bring in more projects and spread
the information of what we are doing in our chapter. Several things
were discussed; we decided to send out a monthly newsletter talking
about what we do and what gets discussed at our meetings. Sanjeev to
start sending out monthly newsletter to various groups.
4. Also discussed about how to track the action items. Arvind Rao to
restart sending out action items.
5. Discussed briefly about how Asha can be a part of "Asian American
Resource center Master Plan". People who are interested in being a
part of it can visit the meetings to understand what role we can play
in the organization.
