1. Gnanodaya -Bharath

- India has 60% of world's leprosy affected people. In general, about 85% of the population is immune to the bacterium that causes leprosy. Leprosy is transmitted mostly by contact or long-term proximity.

-All children in the school are healthy

-They have 203 children at the day school, 115 live in hostel

-Children do not have to pay any expenses

-DIK is the main donor for Gnanodaya

- Haven’t been able to find support for the van from Seattle because they want a local volunteer to steward it

- Why do we have leprosy colonies?

Because of government schemes supporting leprosy affected patients, they band together to avail of these schemes as a group

- Send the second installment of $7500 for this year

 

Action Items:

-Scan the pictures and receipts and upload online


Questions:
-Is the community strength (50 families) the same?


2. Treasurer post -Bharath

- Arvind Rao and Bharath are currently the treasurers

- Arvind wants to step down, need a new volunteer

- Major activities: collect checks, deposits, receipts, chapter accounting/financials, project

disbursals, validate matching donations, event expenses

-We should also have SAC donor accounting

-Credit card donations need to be accounted for properly

-Time commitment: averages about 2 hours/wk


Action Items:

-Set up nominations for treasurer and fundraising coord (Gaurav)


3. Meeting location

- We have RLM 6.112 reserved until Dec 7

- Advantages of UT: central location, projector facilities etc, a single location known to all volunteers, formal atmosphere gets work done

- Disadvantages of UT: parking


4. General

-We will have a meeting next Sunday (Thanksgiving weekend)


5. Year-end progress review -Rahul

- Set up a meeting when we can review the progress through the year in Dec (Rahul)
