A. Marathon Fundraising Discussion: Gaurav
Need to register the runners for Motive. Have contacted the Motive
race organizers and they said they will get back to us, and it is
definitely possible to obtain a lower rate.
Need to follow up with the runners; make sure they turn up for runs
and ensure the runners follow up with their potential donors.
B. Parijat Academy funded by Asha Atlanta.
Prajnalaya: Ankur showed a video presentation giving a background of
the working of the org. They invite artists, writers etc. to come and
give talks and interact with the students. Try to translate issues and
books from English to Assamese to get across to the kids.
Biju visited Prajnalaya (sep 12). Ankur presented Biju's site visit

a) The executive committee is the governing body.
b) Hemanta Saikia of the executive committee is a student trying to
document etc. in order to preserve the folk culutre -- music,
story telling etc.
c) Some students from remote area come to the hostel for the exam
duration etc.
d) More kids in class 8 and 9 in this school.
e) This the first year they have kids in class 9.
f) Local people will be working on the organic fertilizer and
open fisheries.
g) 5 teachers stay on campus -- and will be involved in the income
generation.
h) The land has been transferred in the name of Prajnalaya.
i) Could also set up a SAC for this.

a) How many children are in the hostel?
b) How many schools in the area, and why are there far more kids
starting class 8?
c) Would it be possible to get the course curriculum (what board; what
books) etc.? the course structure?
d) What is the plan for kids who graduate out of class 9?
e) Can we get details on what each of the teachers do -- a breakdown
of what they do, what do they teach, how do they teach?
f) How much land does Prajnalaya have?
g) How many classrooms in the school? Where the children sit? How are
classes conducted? What times etc.
h) How do they obtain the raw materials -- cow dung etc.?
i) Can we get a full breakdown of the budget -- in full detail?
j) Who is going to be working on the income generation activity? If it
is teachers, how will they handle both responsibilities?
k) Who is going to build the tanks/sheds etc.?
l) Are the running expenses of the school covered by the tuition,
right now?
m) What are all the expenses of the school? What is covered by
tuition? What is expected from the income generation scheme? What
are the numbers involved?
n) How will floods affect the compost tanks?

D. Shashi talked about BHOOMI in Hyderabad.
Have adopted a slum area. Most students opted out of school due to
lack of facilities. Bhoomi has started a school. Working on education,
sanitation, health and employment. They dont have a base in USA for
collected funds for their project. Came in the news in NDTV and in ToI
etc.
We could try it as an Asha Star project.
