Asha for Education, Austin, TX chapter is very excited and proud to bring about this show, "Raaga - Music for Hope", featuring three eminent artistes and music maestros, Pandit Indrajit Banerjee on the Sitar, Prof Shankar Bhattacharyya on the Sarode, and Pandit Gourisankar on the Tabla. All of the three play an important part in performing, promoting and disseminating the Hindustani style of Indian classical music and percussion in TX. They are internationally well-known and have performed world-wide.

Raaga, will feature solo Sarode and Sitar recitals accompanied by Tabla, and a duet Jugalbandhi, as the grand finale. Sarode and Sitar are two of India.s most popular stringed instruments. They complement each other very well and their conversations during the jugalbandhi makes one to appreciate the romance between them as well. Indrajit and Shankar both belong to the same Maihar Senia Gharana and style of playing, to make the jugalbandhi a more wholesome experience. Gourisankar has accompanied the artistes regularly on the Tabla, and their understanding of the music and each other provides the perfect foundation for showcasing the beauty of this classical music form.

All of the proceeds from this event would go to fund our various projects and schools that bring about a socio-economic change through the means of primary education.
