Coach Steve Sisson

Coach Steve Sisson is the Director of RogueTraining Systems, the official training program of the 2005 Freescale Marathon. Steve was previously the director of RunTex University from 2001 to 2004.

Coach Sisson was a three-time all-American in track & cross country at the University of Texas at Austin and a four-time Southwest Conference champion at the 3000-meter steeplechase and 5000-meter distances. He represented the United States internationally at the 1993 IAAF World Half-Marathon Championships in Brussels, Belgium, and at the the Niagata (Japan) Ekiden Relay.

As a senior at Churchill High School in San Antonio, Sisson was the 1988 Texas state 5A 3200-meter (2 mile) champion with a 9:13.6 posting. He later went on to hold the UT school record in the 5000-meter for 10 years with an impressive 13:50.4 indoor clocking, and hs won the 1993 Capitol 10,000.

A well-rounded runner with everything from a 4:02 mile PR to a 3:53 50k ultra-marathon PR, Steve placed 18th overall at the 2003 Pikes Peak Marathon in Colorado and even partnered with world-class cyclist George Hincappie in an off-road duathlon in 2003.

When not running or coaching, Steve has directed the highly successful Rogue Trail Series of races and has provided running color-commentary for KXAN TV-36 and KLBJ-radio. Steve brings years of coaching experience and a true love and knowledge of the sport to his job.
