Training

Our training partners for the 2011-2012 season will be USA Fit Austin and USA Fit Round Rock. USA Fit Austin and Round Rock both offer training programs for runners and walkers, designed with the goal of completing a full marathon or half marathon, 10K, 5K or just to obtain a better fitness level! They have two training seasons for longer distance races: One in the spring/summer for the San Antonio Rock ā€˜N’ Roll Marathon and Half Marathon (mid-November) and one in the fall/winter for the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon (mid-February), and 3M Half Marathon (3rd week in January). They also offer an official training program for the Austin American-Statesman Capitol 10,000, with groups at four different times, days and locations.

Here are the highlights of USA Fit Austin and Round Rock’s Full/Half Marathon Training:

  • 26 Week Training Program for walkers, casual joggers, and the serious runner
  • All groups meet at least once a week on Saturdays for the long run/walk
  • Advanced Training Program (ATP) option offers 2 weekday quality workouts for the runner seeking additional training
  • Over 50 experienced and dedicated coaches to walk/run WITH your pace group
  • Weekly newsletter, seminars on important training/racing information, informal social breakfast and weekday runs with the group, group forum to stay connected, and other social events
  • Technical training shirt and discount at Luke’s Locker
