Guria is an organization that works to end sexual exploitation, second generation and child prostitution, and human trafficking. The organization is in the final stages of building a night shelter that will provide a safe place for the children of women working in the red light area. During the daytime it will serve as a balwadi (primary school) for the children to prepare them academically and mentally to eventually join government schools, from which they are otherwise ostracized. Once the children are mainstreamed into government schools, they will continue to be supported by Guria through school fees and academic help.

In the past, Asha supported the creation of a non-formal education center in Varanasi, which was immensely succesful. We are currently in the process of funding another such center in the Mau district, close to Varanasi. Guria currently runs a temporary center in Mau.
