Asha Canada's role is to find a suitable education project run by a non profit organization in India which supports children who are unable to pursue education due to lack of funds. Then Asha endeavors to find sponsors for the children in this project and facilitates matching sponsors with individual children. Asha collects all the sponsorship donations into a common pool, so as to not create unfair situations among the children. Asha then follows through by disbursing and monitoring the sponsors' funds. It works with the projects in India to obtain regular progress reports of the children. Sponsors receive regular updates on their child's progress.

Asha Canada only works with projects with whom we have established a close working relationship of trust, and with whom at least one of our volunteers has developed a sense of partnership. The projects we choose to partner with have gone through Asha Canada's rigorous evaluation process. Asha then continually monitors the progress of the project. Asha Canada ensures appropriate use of sponsors' funds by signing a Canada Revenue Agency-approved agency agreement with the project, which clearly states the purpose for which the funds are to be used by the project. Asha Canada then receives regular financial reports and expense receipts from the projects. In addition, the project is visited by an Asha volunteer at least once every year.
