Team Asha Marathon Training Program

This page describes the training Asha for Education will provide for participating in the Marathon, and your commitment towards Asha.

What Asha Provides

  • Marathon Training
    - Asha will provide a comprehensive training program lasting 4-5 months from a professional coach.
    - Arrange for weekend group runs
    - Facilitate Support Groups for motivation
    - Handpicked Scenic New Jersey Trails for long runs
    - Accommodation and race registration, travel to the site of the marathon
    - Access to discounted physical therapy and sportsgear
     

The program is backed by experienced professional coaches and a network of past participants who will share their training and fundraising experiences.

The program is backed by a team of dedicated people including experienced professional coaches who will support you through the training regimen. The program will also provide a network of past participants who will share their training and fundraising experiences. There will be team trainings that will provide you with the opportunity to run with the coaches. The program will also arrange for buddy runs every week so that the participant stays motivated and focused, while at the same time enjoys her training sessions. Clinics will be hosted to help improve technique and provide tips on injury prevention, nutrition and gear. Be sure to attend the training program kick-off event:

Where? Johnson Park (across landing lane), River Road, NJ

The directions to the Park are as follows:

  • Route 287
  • – Take Exit 9 (Highland Park)
    – Follow River Road toward Highland Park for approximately 2 miles
    – The park begins on your right at Johnson Drive (4th light)
    – Turn right onto the next light. Make immediate right and park in the nearest parking lot.

  • Route 1
  • – Take exit for Route 18 North – Follow directions for Route 18 North

  • Garden State Parkway
  • – Take Exit 129 (New Jersey Turnpike) – Take New Jersey Turnpike South – Follow Directions for New Jersey Turnpike

  • NJ Turnpike
  • – Take Exit 9 (New Brunswick) – Follow directions for Route 1, 18 North

    18 North
    – Take the River Rd exit, merge onto River Rd, Left turn at the 2nd traffic light onto Landing lane (there is apparently no board there!), take the first right turn into the park. Make immediate right and park in the nearest parking lot.

    18 South
    – Take River Rd exit, right at traffic light onto River Rd, Left at traffic light onto Landing Lane. Make immediate right and park in the nearest parking lot.

When? 8AM every Sunday starting 23rd May, 2011

Your Commitment to Asha

  • Marathon
    Each participant will raise a minimum amount towards Asha.
     
  • Half Marathon
    Each participant will raise a minimum amount towards Asha.
     

We pledge to minimize the event expenses, and acknowledge that all the remaining funds will go towards projects on basic education supported by Asha-CNJ. The program will also provide substantial support in planning Asha's fundraising strategy and help Asha realize its fundraising goal.

The marathon training program is a 4-6 month comprehensive program and requires a personal commitment of about 7 hours every week.
