Asha for Education is an international non-profit organization committed to providing basic education for underprivileged children in India in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change.

Till date, Asha has supported more than 385 different child education projects spanning 24 states in India. In terms of project funding, almost $4,000,000 has been disbursed to these projects since Asha's inception. In 2002 alone, Asha chapters raised and disbursed more than $1,000,000 to over 200 projects.

Ratnakar's Runner Profile

I heard about Team Asha and it's running program from colleagues and friends, so I decided to give a try this summer when my family went on vacation to India.Initially, I was not sure how far I can go but thanks to our coaches and other members of team, I am able to run consistently and longer distance.

One of the best part of Asha I realized, after joining was the charity program for kids in India, we run and raise money for educating underprivileged kids in India.

Asha is an all-volunteer based organization with no over-head costs. Asha is a US-registered non-profit organization, so all your contributions are tax-deductible (501(c)3) under the IRS code.

Progress so far -
I have successfully completed Liberty half marathon with the time of 2:10:14, and will be running Philadelphia Marathon on Nov 20, 2011.
