Asha for Education is an international non-profit organization committed to providing basic education for underprivileged children in India in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change.

Till date, Asha has supported more than 385 different child education projects spanning 24 states in India. In terms of project funding, almost $4,000,000 has been disbursed to these projects since Asha's inception. In 2002 alone, Asha chapters raised and disbursed more than $1,000,000 to over 200 projects.

Asha for Education Central NJ chapter was established in 2000 by a diverse group of professionals and students. Since then the chapter has supported over 25 projects in India. The Central NJ chapter this year supports 6 deserving projects in various parts of India, addressing a range of issues including but not limited to education, development and health-care.

I started running Marathons as a way of demonstrating my commitment to raise funds for educating underprivileged children in India. Running long distances hurts, some days it hurts more than the other. That doesn't mean I don't run, but I deal with it thinking every step I take is one step close to educating a child in India.

Thanks to all the generous donors from last year who helped me raise $2100 towards Asha Central NJ Chapter. This year I am running the Philadelphia Full Marathon on 20th Nov 2011 to continue my support. Please make a generous donation. Every dollar counts towards educating an underprivileged child in India.
