Asha
for Education is an international
non-profit organization committed to
providing basic education for
underprivileged children in India in the
belief that education is a critical
requisite for socio-economic change.
Till date, Asha has supported more than
385 different child education projects
spanning 24 states in India. In terms of
project funding, almost $4,000,000 has
been disbursed to these projects since
Asha's inception. In 2002 alone, Asha
chapters raised and disbursed more than
$1,000,000 to over 200 projects.

Dear Friends,
Today India is growing at a fast pace with its economy but we still are extremely far from providing quality primary education to our most underprivileged children. Being a part of Asha for Education for the last 4 years and having visited many schools and projects in India, I can only endorse the need for better education.
Every year Asha for Education, Central NJ chapters supports 8-10 projects and disburses approximately $100,000 per year. My commitment is to raise $2620 ($100/mile) towards this cause and I hope you will help me achieve this target.
Swamy Vivekananda's teaching: We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one's own feet.

P.S. The picture on my profile is from a project we support (SAATHI) where we fund children who are AIDS infected and affected. This is one such family.
I successfully ran the Chicago Marathon on 9th Oct 2011 in 4 Hrs and 49 mins. It was hot day with 85 degrees but thanks to the support and cheering from all the volunteers I could finish strong.
