Radio City FM 105.8 in a local radio station in Chennai. They decided to promote the cause of education for the underprivileged on the World Literacy Day, 8th May 2006. Based on the high standards of our transparency and clear presentation of information to all through our website, they selected Asha Chennai for this promotion. Promotional audio clips were aired on the days leading to the 8th May 2006. On the World Literacy Day they interviewed the coordinator of Asha Chennai about the organisation and our activities related to education.
We have been overwhelmed by the response from the listeners of Radio City FM. Over 200 pledges for donations amounting to over Rs 1.5 Lakhs as on date (15th Sept 2006) have been received. It makes us proud to see the citizens of Chennai caring deeply for education to all.
The money raised as part of this promotion will be used to support the children residing in and studying at the Little Flower School at Karumbakkam, a village in Chengalpattu district. The children at this school are children of migrant brick kiln workers. Being migrant themselves, they spend 6 months of the year here and the other 6 months in their villages. Without this
school education will be denied to them and they would fall into child labour. To learn more about this project

Radio city held a press conference on the 11th of October. to announce their support for this project. This received good coverage. Articles were published in
Hindu, Dinamalar and other news papers.
We, the volunteers of Asha Chennai once again thank Radio City FM and its listeners for their generous support. Every donation goes to help keep one more child in school.
