The following is the text of non formal agreement we have reached with the contractors. They have demanded a sum of Rs.35000/; we have orally 
promised to consider their request on successful completion of the jobs, by the month end 
You are requested to suggest/advise or pass on any work that We might not have thought off and forgotten and might be esential and useful, 
and also any improvements to the work allotted.

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN ASHA CHENNAI AT MADRAS 600090, AND CONTRACTORS M/S.

NAGARAJAN AND BADRI OF TAFE INDIA LTD., ON THE REPAIRS, ADDITIONS, ALTERATIONS, MODICATIONS ETC.,

IN THE EXISTING URUR OLCOTT KUPPAM BALWADI SCHOOL, THE WORK BEING CIVIL,ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING,

MECHANICAL, PAINTING AND GENERAL MISCELLANEOUS IN NATURE.


Whereas the ASHA Chennai, has come to an understanding with the Contractors M/s.Nagarajan and Badri, following several personal meetings and 
several discussions on the afore mentioned jobs, and whereas the contractors have agreed in principle and otherwise to carry

out the desired work, now therefore the agreement does witnesseth,

01. Contractors would construct a boundary wall running from the building on the eastern side of the Balwadi, extending the eastern wall of 
the building of samooga koodam, to a length of about 5 metres, and from that point, the wall would be running to a length of upto 5 ft on the 
western side of the Balwadi, and from there turning at right angle upto a point in line with the Balwadi entrance wall. The point would be 
connected by a gate with the balwadi.

Also the 2 building structures would be linked between on the northern side.

The wall would be to a height of 7 feet from the floor level and would be built on a flatstone depth of about 2 feet. Construction would be 
of

red bricks, and the wall structure would have a pillar constructed on every 10 ft. length. The walls on top would be embedded by the glass 
pieces.

02. The balwadi structure has some leaks on the AC Sheet roofing. New Apron sheets to be fixed; The broken wooden support truss materials to 
be replaced and repaired; J Bolts to be fastened where missing and replaced where they are corroded; AC sheets to be fixed on the southern 
side slant for the entire length of Balwadi, to arrest water/rains entering, and to act as shades. AC sheet roofing to be fixed for the 3rd 
toilet on the adjacent building.

03. New wooden door to be fixed up to full height for the entrance of the Balwadi, and the existing one to be fixed as a rear entrance to the 
outlet area on the southern side wall near the west end. And 2 other doors to be fixed with syntax materials, for the toilets constructed 
for Balwadi, after partition civil works. A small slide door with pad lock for the pump room to be fixed. For the Samooga koodam, the main 
door has got to be repaired and the rear door 

as well for pucca closures.

04. For the 3 toilets level to be raised on the floor suitably, and flush pans available to be fixed, and the sewer lines to be laid and 
connected, and the lead sewer lines to be connected to a chamber to bebuilt for this purpose. And this lines have to be laid before the 
construction of boundary wall.

05. Cup boards 2 in numbers with 4 slabs each available to be built inside the Balwadi, at specific places.

06. For the kitchen, flooring has got to be thoroughly laid with proper slope after relaying the existing drain, and a fresh drain to be 
constructed on the southern side, with a let out small chamber to be connected to the main drain lines on the southern side. The cupboard 
dais has got to be constructed with the available slab, in a new spot. The oven and chimney have got to be repaired. A special wash area has 
got to be constructed, for children’s wash and clean.

07. New electrical lines to be fixed, and the 3 core wire to a length of 300 ft+ available, can be used. 2 fans and 4 tube lights and 2 
small filament bulbs and a bulk head fitting at the outside on the southern side, and a proper pump switch, and 2 15 amps plug and socket at 
2 places inside the balwadi , are the things needed for electrification connection. One line to be given for the other structure.

08. Some PVC lines and 4 tabs are available with us, for utilizing, and for laying the plumbing lines after fixing an over-head tank on 
top of balwadi [.650 ltrs. But < 1000 ltrs.]. Lines from the pump to the over head tank and lines from the over head tank to the garden area 
and the 2 toilets and the kitchen for cooking and for the wash area for the children. 

09. Brick work structures are to be repaired and replaced wherever necessary (at few places). And the flooring gaps and holes are to be 
repaired. The entire bottom portion of the walls on 2 sides of the balwadi for a height of about 3 ft maxm. To be painted black with enamel 
for children to scribble.

10. The entire balwadi, compound walls after plastering, and the insurface of the balwadi (including the kitchen), and the outer structure 
of the samooga koodam are to be painted/white washed. The doors are to be painted with enamel painting and the white washing of the exterior 
with fevicol, and the insurface area with snowcem. If possible the inside AC roofing also can be painted white, and the wooden reapers are to 
be painted using primer and wooden paint.

11. The area between the 2 buildings are to be thoroughly cleared of debris, and the entire perimeter of the balwadi and the samooga 
koodam to be cleared of rubbish and nicely cleaned.

a. For all the jobs listed above, some materials are available, and the rest are to be obtained by the contractors and the work 
to be carried out, utilizing, masons, p p plumbers electricians, painters, and carpenters.

b. The entire job would be completed within a period of about 10 working days, not necessarily continuously.

But the job would be finished by on or the 31st of July 2003. 

c. A total sum of Rs.30,000( thirty thousand) is charged and agreed for the purpose, and an initial sum of Rs.

Rs.5000/- ( Five thousand only ), would be paid on Saturday the 19th july 2003. Thereafter the money would be settled in periods, to be 
agreed between the parties to this agreement.

d. Any dispute or misunderstanding between the parties would be thrashed out by the parties themselves in a cordial and amicable 
manner, in front of a mutually agreeable 3rd party with respectable standing in society.
