Inauguration of Balwadis
(Ekaambaram pillai street,
Mylapore, on Thursday the 19 Jan 2006)
In a joint effort of Madras Midtown Ladies Circle # 7 (Member, Ladies Circle India) and Asha Chennai we have renovated the Balwadis at Ekambaram Pillai St., Mylapore. We have had the great pleasure in announcing that the renovation of the ICDS Balwadis 1054, 1057 and 1088 at Ekambaram Pillai St., Mylapore has been successfully completed. The inauguration of the renovated premises was organized on the 19th of January at 11:00 am at the Balwadis. While the renovation to the physical infrastructure is complete, we continue to remain involved with the Balwadis to improve the quality of education imparted there. The total cost worked out to about Rs.180,000=00.
The function was largely attended by the Ladies Mid Town Circle from Officials at All India Level, ICDS higher Ups,
Asha Chennai Volunteers Rajaram, Ananth, Sundaram, Viswanathan, Kasturi Easwarn and Asha interns and general Public.
We would also like to acknowledge that the project was successful due to the efforts of various government agencies / bodies represented by the middle level engineers / officers / managers, the ICDS personnel, the corporation commissioner Mr.Vijayakumar (Chennai), and several others.

MMLC # 7 is a part of Ladies Circle India, a national organization, comprising of wives of Round Tablers. With more than 90 clubs, 1000 members spread across India; the core objective of this movement is Education, through their long term objective, Educate to Enlighten.
MMLC # 7 has undertaken innumerable projects over the past years, a few of which include planting trees, supporting schools for special children ,building toilet blocks, Hepatitis B vaccination for the handicapped children, providing artificial limbs to the needy ,assistance to Cancer hospital and repair and maintenances of various schools and Balwadis,
The above mentioned Balwadi, being the second ,in association with Asha,Chennai. Incidentally The Ladies Circle group of Chennai was awarded a medal cum memento for the best project work undertaken by them for their coordination with us during the renovation of Urur kuppam Balwadi no.1078.
