Background

TRY – To Reach You, is a multi purpose social work organization reaching out to the socially, educationally and economically backward sections irrespective of caste, creed and religion. 

TRY’s primary focus is to provide education for the underprivileged children in the society, priority is given to the children’s of commercial sex worker’s for whom education is a dream. Towards this end TRY has started the Anand Children's Home at Ramavaram, Chennai. The project requirements are towards this home.

This organization works on a community based method where mother/parents and children are involved. It provides home-shelter care and education to children who are abandoned, neglected or those belonging to broken family, especially children of commercial sex workers. It is expected that through the providing of home-shelter care & education to the child, by itself will not find a permanent solution. But through comprehensive community based program, it is possible to have a direct and positive effect on the well being of the young children.

The project proposal has two components to it which can be dealt with independently. One is to provide for the monthly operating expenses of Anand Children's Home and the other is to find a permanent location for Anand Children's Home.

Project Goals

• Help find a permanent solution to TRY's problem of find a place for Anand Children's Home. This may be through taking care of their operating expenses which would free up their resources to get funding for the permanent home or by funding the costs of the permanent home. Ideally we should play a part in both aspects of the project.

Current Focus Items

• Working with WAH focus group to get funding for purchasing the land for the TRY home.
