What is Asha?

Asha stands for hope in many Indian languages. Asha for Education is an organization which represents the hope that this generation will bring the liberating force of education to the underprivileged children of India.

The Chicago chapter of Asha holds many events throughout the year in the Greater Chicagoland area. These events are geared towards raising funds and awareness about the education of underprivileged children in India. Asha Chicago supports and manages projects as diverse as pre-primary day care centers and Braille printers for blind children. Some of the current projects are

Asha is a unique organization in that it is 100% volunteer-driven, has no hierarchy and has zero overhead costs. All operational costs are borne by volunteers enabling 100% of all donations to be sent to our projects in India. All donations made to Asha for Education in the United States are tax-exempt under IRS code Section 501(c)3.
