"SAARANG" Dance Contest Guidelines

Contest Time: Saturday, November, 20th 2004 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM

Dancers' Reporting Time: 5:00 – 5:30 PM (Reporting is mandatory as
we will be collecting the tapes)

Guidelines:
1. Music (audio tape or CD) must be provided by 5:30 PM before the
contest. Need to label it properly.
2. Please email the names of the dancer(s), description/meaning and
length of the dance latest by Friday 14th of November.
3. Only classical dancers can perform solo. All the other dances
should be in group (2 or more).
4. Only (no professionals) amateur dancers can take part in the
contest.
5. All dances must be Indian classical, traditional, folk or
Bollywood based.
6. At 5:30 PM you'll be notified about the order of the
dances/program. We will be starting in the ascending order of the
age-groups.
7. Classical dancers must be dressed in classical dance costume.

Prizes:
There will be 1st and 2nd prizes in solo and group dance categories.

Rules and Regulations of Antakshari

1. The team should sing at least the first two lines of the song correctly to be considered valid.

2. In round 1, the normal antakshari round, the team should start off with the last syllable and not the last letter of the song sung by the previous team. For instance, if the song ends with gayaa, the team should start singing with ya and not aa.

3. In buzzer rounds, judge’s decision will be final.

4. Time limit for each round will be specified before that round.

5. During ties, buzzers will be used by default. So, KEEP THEM READY!

6. During a tie, if a team buzzes but fails to answer correctly, the other team(s) automatically wins or the team that answers wrong will be penalized.

ii) Area provided – 4’ x 4’

iii)Entries will be judged based on appearance.
