Update for Dr.Ghia - Kavita and Shilpa will talk to her on Monday.
Need to discuss - Change of date/Venue for Saarang, GE Center in Bangalore- they don't really help organizations or projects as a firm, Sudhir Parikh, registration - Our form is being reviewed as of now and apparently due to the high inflow of applications this year , it is oging to take longer(it will be great if Dr.Ghia can find us some contacts to followup with this-she had mentioned some senior student the last time).
Publicity for Saarang -

Rangoli - Surya, Navitha, Yashpal, Uma and Arti to meet up in 405 Morgen's at 1pm on Sunday to try to get the colors ready.  We just have rice with us.  So Surya, can you  arrange for some colors that we are going to try out tomorrow? Santha will aslo try some options and inform Surya.
 
Antakshari - Arti/Pammi/Mahesh meeting on Saturday to discuss the rules. 
 
Musical Tambola - Kavita and Surya to pass along 25 songs to Hemant by Wednesday.
 
Dance Competitions - Padma Chebrolu also needs to be sent an email flyer.
 
Manjari, Neelima, Gautam and Aparna can be approached for help if required.

Publicity

- We'll start putting up some flyers (the ISA version) around the campus in addition to what ISA puts up starting Wednesday . - All

Rangoli
different ideas/opinions regarding obtaining the colours for Rangoli
- Plain sand & food colours : Will they mix properly?
- Rice with food colours - grind it if participants ask for it.
- Get colours from Chicago - Do we have time for any Asha volunteers to go over ? we are trying to get students from UC visiting Chicago to bring us some colours.
- Email Asha wide regarding colours.
- Use natural colours, flours instead
- Chalk Powder
- We can compromise on the quality of the colors by making them with rice/sand if there are not many participants.
 
The aim is to get 6 participants-
Kavita - 1, Hemant - 1 , Yashpal - 2 among others.

Arti/ Pammi meeting on Monday to discuss the event and also to talk to Mahesh, who is going to anchor the show along with Pammi.

- Talk to Padma Chebrolu regarding the event to get some input.
- Hemant to talk to Rosanna Bandhopadhyay regarding her students' participation in Saarang and otherwise her being one of the judges.
 
All entries for the Group Dance age group 0 -12 are now being put on hold until Friday.
 
- Yashpal, Uma and Kavita to talk to Indian Americans regarding participation in Saarang.
- Gaurav Gupta is going to be the host. Some volunteers needs to handle kids on/off stage.
- Yashpal to book Zimmer on 5, 6 , 7th of Nov from 6 - 11 pm for dance practice.

- Hemant / Yashpal to bring in three quotes for the food prices by Friday.
- Sheetal has offered to bring about 75 samosas for the afternoon slot.

General Discussion:
Saarang 2003 - All the slots for the group dance competition are full  in the 0 -12 age group.
The details for the events need to be finalised within a week and emails are to be sent out regarding the same.
 
Action Items:
-Santha to find out about procuring Asha merchandise before Saarang.
-Core group meeting to be held on Tuesday at 6: 30 pm to finalize the details for the Saarang events.

General Discussion:
Saarang 2003- Yashpal will follow up on booking of Zimmer by ISA for Diwali.Saarang emails need to be sent out and volunteers to publicize by word of mouth. Paying Sulekha for publicity was discussed and we decided to go for it within a limited budget.
Registration - The application forms are with students board and we should hear from them hopefully by the end of this week.
 
Action Items:
-Publicity group to email a list of places, to post Saarang flyers in Cincinnati, by Wednesday.
-Shilpa to enquire about Sudhir Parikh, an Indian engineer based in New Jersey who could be a potential contact/donor for Asha.
-Yashpal and Hemant to talk to Krishna , Deeps and possibly Taj Mahal  this week regarding Saarang.
-Shilpa to ask for an Asha table at the Sabha show

Minutes of Meeting for the meeting held on 5th October, 2003

General Discussion:
- When is the Sabha show? OCt 25th. The Diwali celebrations in Dayton also fall on the same day. So, we'll have to split and go to either places for Asha publicity.
- Santha has ordered 25 calendars for the year 2004.
- Everyone felt that we are not in a position to host Mrs.Lakshmi Suryanarayanan, Asha- Chennai volunteer, involved in TRY project.
- Should we set certain targets and guidelines when we choose our projects? Lot of ideas were discussed.
 
NICE Project Discussion w/ Asha- Hyderabad Volunteer Prasannna Kondapaneni:
An Asha-Hyderabad volunteer who is active as an Asha-Star for the NICE project in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, gave first hand information on the project stats and credibility.

mention Asha Cincinnati so they know who is sending the contribution.
Some of the points discussed were FCRA clearance for Asha chapters in India and  sending money through Timbaktu collective as an option.
The projects group is going to discuss NICE project again and discuss it at the chapter level as a follow-up of  this discussion.
 
MG School Project Presentation and Voting:
- Projects group made a presentation of the MG school project and some of the additional questions raised by the volunteers for the projects group to clarify with the project contact in India.
- Everyone present liked th eproject nevertheless and it was approved with all the volunteers present voting in favour of it.The strength was 10/14 of the total members.
- Surya has volunteered to be the Project steward for this project.
 
Action Items:
- Yashpal to talk to Sabha regarding an Asha booth during the Kadri Gopalnath show.
-  We'll make plans for Dayton by 19th Oct.
-  Abhijit to put the Saarang flyer on the website and also post information on the status of  entries for Saarang.
-  Publicity group to come up with a list of places to post Saarang flyers by next meeting ,ie., 12th Oct and the volunteers can own up different tasks.
-  All volunteers to send in their personal reservations/suggestions/opinions regarding project selection criteria to Navitha.The projects group will then compile a list of these ideas and bring it up for discussion in a general meeting.
