The groups who presented at the conference can be broadly classified into three categories:

Alternative Schools: As the name suggests, these are efforts by many educators in establishing schools that have a different teaching philosophy from those of conventional schools.  Please click here for a discussion of alternative schools and the groups working in this area.

Community Approaches to Schooling:  These initiatives stem from the belief that an ideal education should be linked with the community and community ownership of the education process is essential to its success.  Please  click here for a discussion of these approaches and the groups working in this area.

Government school interventions: Government school interventions are efforts by individuals and groups to enrich the educational experiences of children within the conventional school system.  Please  click here for a discussion of these approaches and the groups working in this area.
