About Asha
What is Asha

BoyAsha for Education is a secular organization, which promotes basic education in India. We, at Asha, believe that the promotion of basic education will ultimately effect the much needed socio-economic change that needs to occur in India. Today, there are 66 Asha chapters worldwide- 45 in the United States, 14 in India and 7 in Europe, Singapore and Australia. Individual Asha chapters identify, research, and own projects in India. They provide funding and sustain projects that focus on primary education without any regional, religious or gender based bias.

Asha raises funds for its projects in a number of creative ways: individual donations, corporate donations, sale of merchandise (T-shirts, calendars, mugs, greeting cards, etc.) designed by Asha volunteers, fundraising dinners, Indian classical music and dance concerts, popular music concerts and running marathons to name a few. Till date, Asha has supported more than 385 different projects spanning 22 states in India, with almost $4,000,000 in aid being disbursed since Asha's inception.

Asha Dallas

Asha Dallas, which was started in 1999 by a handful of young professionals, has now grown into a 117 member strong organization. We are a diverse and dynamic group of working professionals and students from in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Students from the University of Texas at Dallas have a satellite chapter under our aegis. We currently support 5 projects i.e., Marrur, Rotary, Tripura, CSR and TRY in 5 states in India. Funding for these projects was raised from donations, sale of merchandise, music and dance concerts and food and merchandise booths at Anand Bazaar and the Dallas International festival. If you would like to know more about our projects visit our Projects page. All funds raised are channeled to our projects and all incidental expenses are borne by our volunteers. To find out more on the workings of our group visit the Subgroups page.

If you would like to be a part of our group and help make a difference visit our Volunteer page and sign up! If you cannot volunteer you time, you could still help by spreading the word!
