Marathon 2004
Oct 31st was a remarkably hot day and the race was much tougher than expected. The cool morning gave no indication of the hot day ahead. 18,000 runners thronged the race grounds near the Marine Corps War Memorial for race day. The mood was upbeat, with blaring music, marines in green fatigues directing and helping runners and whole range of race day gala. Asha runners grouped around our allotted tent before the race and later left to take positions at different points to start the race. Even though some of our runners suffered from cramps, fatigue, or pain from previous injuries, they all went ahead and finished the race. We want to thank all the runners, the volunteers and the donors who made this possible. We hope to see you all again next year.

Work An Hour 2003 raised more than $133,000. This was the largest amount ever raised in WAH and easily beat the $125,000 target. The DC chapter raised $5,528 which beat our chapter target of $5,000. This means that Asha will be able to fund the 4 very deserving projects that were selected for WAH funding this year.
Asha is grateful to each one of the donors for making the largest fundraising drive in it's history possible. Thanks to each one of you. |
