Through commitment and endurance these men and women, most of them first time marathoners completed marathons and have raised over $500,000 for Asha for Education. Through the Harbingers of Hope training program they have overcome odds and made their dreams of athletic accomplishment come true. You can do it too!!!. This site presents the details of the training program, the marathon program's mission, and other pertinent information.

The Harbinger's of Hope marathon training program was started and made hugely successful by the Silicon Valley Chapter of Asha for Education. Update:

Congratulations to the Asha Marathon Team, Harbingers of Hope, successfuly completed 2004 marathon!

Oct 31st was a remarkably hot day and the race was much tougher than expected. The cool morning gave no indication of the hot day ahead. 18,000 runners thronged the race grounds near the Marine Corps War Memorial for race day. The mood was upbeat, with blaring music, marines in green fatigues directing and helping runners and whole range of race day gala. Asha runners grouped around our allotted tent before the race and later left to take positions at different points to start the race. Even though some of our runners suffered from cramps, fatigue, or pain from previous injuries, they all went ahead and finished the race. We want to thank all the runners, the volunteers and the donors who made this possible. We hope to see you all again next year.
