Harbingering a hopeAsha was founded at University of California, Berkley by a group of Phd students to give a helping hand to the basic education of their Country. Their efforts borne fruits and myriad Asha chapters sprung far across the globe. Today, there are more than (60 chapters) around the world and Asha is also registered, as a public charitable trust in India. The Asha Delhi Chapter was started by Sangeeta and Ravi in 1996 and has grown many folds since then. Siva Athreya is the contact person for the Asha-Delhi chapter and also collects updates from North and North-East chapters/projects and centres of Asha in India. Asha-Delhi has been visiting several projects and evaluating them to provide funds. The areas of focus have been in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Rajasthan. The Asha OrganizationThe various chapters of Asha are organized loosely and we have a very flat structure. We all share the same basic goal of education. At Asha-Delhi our focus has been to provide the Resource help for groups working in the field of education in and around Delhi. Asha chapters often collaborate on projects and exchange information about prospective projects, project evaluations and policies. We understand and respect that individual chapters may differ in the policies, ideas and plans for future projects. Asha-Delhi does not have a formal membership or organizational structure. Our membership consists almost entirely of volunteers who make their time and help available as per their interests and abilities. All interested people are welcome to join
Asha-Delhi. To register as a volunteer please Subscribe (asha-delhi-subscribe@yahoogroups.com)to our mailing list. You will then get
added to the mailing list and be informed about our meetings and
activities. |
