Date: 22nd Jan 07 Volunteers present: Uday, Ravi, Sangeeta, Dhruv, Yogita, Namita, Deepti, Mehar, Gunjan, Tarun, and Rohini Venue: Ravi and Sangeeta's residence Agenda items discussed: 20% reservation project: Dhruv is going to be the coordintaor. Auditing needs to be done. All vouchers to be sent to Bangalore and Munich as per theirrequirements. Kanchan has sent all the information to Dhruv, thus handing over the project. Cheques need to be sent from Bangalore as the salary from Dec-Feb needs to be paid. Registration/Account: As the project expands, payment of salary is becoming a problem and a way out needs to be figured out. For opening an account, we will need to attend the meeting once again in Summer as we did not attend the Winter meeting requested by Vallabh bhai. However, it needs to be remembered that Delhi has been making representations for opening an account since 2005 (Lalpur meeting 2005 and Moradabad meeting 2006)This implies a delay of 6 months. Some volunteers suggested registration as one solution. This is based on the European model where are all chapters are registered independently. However, there are issues that need to be carefully thought out: There will be lot of paper work What will be Asha India's stance? Will it create more problems? We need more people. Executive committee needs to be elected. How long will we as a group last? Our past experience suggests that volunteers have not lasted for more than 2 years. It was finally decided after lots of delibrations that we will draft a letter requesting for an account to be opened in Delhi. The letter will be sent to the trustees. Action item for Ravi. Calendars: 100 calendars were obtained by Asha Delhi. They will be sold for Rs 100/- each. Deepti, a student with IIT Delhi, and a volunteer with Asha Delhi, is doing a research project. she passed along the questionnaire to be filled out by the volunteers. MCD school project: This was a project we started with the NSS volunteers. Pratibha Vikas Vidayalaya are the elite wings of the Delhi Govt. Schools. The NSS volunteers from IIT Delhi were to interact with the class 11th and 12th students and help them with their science course work. However, due to various reasons, the interaction did not progress as envisaged. To be revived this semester with possible help rendered by the IIT students towards preparing the 12th class students for the board exams. Gunjan to coordinate. Expansion of 20% reservation project: More volunteers are needed to expand the project beyond North and North East Delhi. It is also possible that the scope of the project can be expanded to other states. Dhruv and Gunjan to prepare an outline for expansion. Tarun to email Asha India to find out if others would be interested.
