Agenda discussed: Sakshaar: VVF has requested for the rent of the house to be included in their budget presented to us. The previous house has been vacated; however, they have not been able to find an alternate accommodation. Mrs. Kumar mentioned to Ravi that she has found a flat on first floor but she was hesitating to take it up as it would not be safe for small children. There is a dharamshala but they were not willing to let it out to VVF for this purpose. Shiv will be calling Mrs. Kumar to get further update. He will also be paying a visit to the project with another friend. Shrishti: Asha Berkeley is interested in funding the project. The total budget is for Rs 3.9 lakhs; from Asha they have requested Rs 2.49 lakhs. Berkeley wanted clarification on FCRA and how to route the funds. The requested information has been conveyed to them. The project will be shifting to a new premise too as the current one is not sufficient for their needs. Danny will be teaching here for some time. Ballia Project: Rs 20,000 has been sanctioned for this project which Delhi will be funding along with Asha Bangalore. CAN project: They have submitted a modified project proposal. Rohini to talk to the project and find out further details. Calendars: Kanpur will be giving us 50 calendars. Rohini, Ravi, Danny, and Uday had a meeting with Arif, Ritu, Rajiv, Ramsingh, Rekha, and Ramashray on 25th December 2005. Two teams have started working in North East (Seemapuri, Welcome, Nandnagri) and East (Shahdra) Delhi. Ritu is working in East Delhi where there are four camps: Rajiv, Nehru, Indira, Sonia and a Harijan Basti. The children and their parents were approached and mobilized through another organization, ISST. The age of the children is between 3-4 years. 5 schools were approached. Only Alcon School has given out registration form. The remaining schools refused. So a complaint has been filed. Simultaneously, based on previous experience a RTI has also been filed. And they have also talked to DDA. Total number of complaints filed ~100 (each parent files a complaint for each school). Arif and others are working in Seemapuri, Sundar Nagari, Nand Nagari, and Janta colony. There are 28 people below poverty line and 20 need income certificate. About 28 children have been mobilized. 5 children have got forms (4 from Greenfield and 1 from Hansraj). 55 complaints have been filed. Rekha will start working in Kalkaji area. She will be coordinating with Sahaj Sankalp, a NGO which has presence in this area Update on 7th January 2006 Ritu: In Indira Camp, 10 children have been given forms by Vivekanand International. A complaint was filed against National school. A RTI and DDA appeal has also been filed. Now we have got information that the school has done self-registration and they have asked the parents to approach in March when the admission process starts. In Nehru and Sonia camp there are 15 children as of all the parents approached and mobilized only 8-9 parents did follow up. Alcon school has issued 6 forms. Complaint and RTI has been filed against Bal Bhawan and Mayur public school. There has been no response, even though the time has expired for response, therefore an appeal will be filed. In Anand Vihar, there are 8 students. 3 schools were approached. At DAV school there was a problem as the Principal was not willing to give forms. The parents came back to us and we wrote up a formal letter including all the reasons that the principal had given them. The principal got upset and tore that letter up. She has given registration forms and said that she will give admission forms in March. That day she had actually called up the police! Vivekanand B school gave forms but not Vivekanand D. A complaint has been filed. Most of the children do not have birth certificates so the progress is little slow. Krishna Nagar- We have gone one and we have covered about 5-6 lanes. Arif: In Qalandar Colony, Mangal Bazaar, Dilshad Garden, Sunlight Colony, and Sundar Nagari, about 30-40 people have been mobilized. They have all the requisite papers and we have approached LPH, Greenways and one other school. They refused admission so we have filed a complaint. Nutan Public School has issued 7 forms. And Hansraj school has requested to take back the complaint. They will give out forms on 17th. Floradale and Greenways said that their admission process starts from 27 March to 1st April. National school has agreed to give out forms but only in March. We are appealing to Deputy Director of Education. 40 complaints have been filed with DDA.
