Asha meeting - 7/27/2003

Attendees: Latha, Sai, Annamalai, Karthik, Damodar &
Srini. Brief appearance made by Rahul.

Special Item:
1. Double wicket tournament being held by MichCA. The
proceeds of this tournament will go towards Asha.
Contact made by Ajit Krishnamurthy. This is a one day
event on the 10th of August.

2. Merchandise responsibility has been handed over to
Latha and Damodar (assistance). Latha will be
responsible for contacting other chapters and in
charge of acquiring merchandise. Additional T-shirts
to be printed and mugs to be ordered based on existing
designs. Annamalai will give Latha the contact
information. 

3. Latha to look up into United Way regarding donation
and setting up Asha Detroit on their list. Reference #
063887. 

4. Anand Bazaar volunteers: Srini, Latha, Sai.
Additional volunteers needed. Anand Bazaar will be
held on the 3rd of August, Sunday, 11:00 am to 7:00
pm.
Srini to make posters for Work An Hour.  Marathon
posters are also required. Additional copies of
newsletter and one pager about Asha- Sai to handle
making 500 copies of the one pager, 300 copies of WAH
flyer and 100copies of the newsletter. Latha will give
the contact number for printer to Sai.. Srini to get
laptop to run WAH videos and prepare flyers for WAH.

5. Dr. Raj's heart and health fun run will be held on
Saturday, the 9th of August 2003 at the bloomfield
hills middle school at 8:00 am till noon. The school
is located on Quarton Road (16 Mile Road) just west of
telegraph road. Asha is setting up a table at the
start/end point.

Regular Agenda:
Volleyball tournament (Aug. 23rd) Damodar and Karthik
to look into reserving courts in Farmington Hills or
Southfield. (Reserve 4 courts).
Latha will update the flyer based on the location. 
Annamalai to send pertinent Asha information to
Damodar and Karthik.
Sai to contact previous year's winners regarding
trophy.
Flyer distribution - Annamalai, Srini to distribute in
Troy, Warren & Rochester Hills area. Damodar and
Karthik to distribute it in Inkster / Dearborn.
Sridhar and Bindu assigned to Canton area. Kannan
assigned for the Farmington Hills area.
Volleyballs: 4 with Karthik and 2 with Sai
Refreshments: Purchase in bulk. Items to be purchased:
Gatorade - 20 oz., Water - aquafina (20 oz), pop - 
cans (coke, diet coke, sprite), samosas (ajit to
provide information), bananas, potentially pizza,
Assigned to Sridhar & Bindu.
Volunteers required to help with kids events.

Double wicket tournament: Ajit to handle the food and
refreshments. Volunteers will assist as required. Ice
boxes available with Annamalai & Karthik if necessary.


Event publicity on miindia: Sai to contact miindia.com
regarding events. Karthik to send information to Sai. 


Basketball tournament: Tournament will be held on
September 6th. Flyers to be distributed along with
volleyball. Karthik and Damodar to look into
availability of courts in the Farmington Hills,
Southfield area.

Asha wide decision making process: Asha Detroit group
has agreed to the proposed process (unanimous votes).
Srini Rajagopalan has been unanimously nominated as
the representative from the Asha Detroit chapter.
