Project updates * BISWA – 3 minutes (Sai) Based on recent site visits by two volunteers, schools are reported to be functioning well. New budget for 2007-08 received and being reviewed. There is a new proposal to start one middle school in place of the four primary schools next year when these schools will be operated by Govt. support. * Kuvempu – 3 minutes (Sai, Akila, Shankar) Some audited financial statements for 2005-06 and 05-04 as well as partial unaudited statements for 2006 were submitted. Internal changes were put in place to make Shanmuga as the single point financial contact for 2007-08. This is to help Kuvempu develop and adopt consistent accounting practices. Second installment for 2006-07 for $6500 will be release based on the review of unaudited financial statements for 2006-07. * Shanti Sadhana Ashram – 3 minutes (Kumuda, Srini) Partha Bora, a volunteer from Asha-Irvine has visited the project in the last week of March. Expecting a site visit report in April. There was an issue of second installment funds not reaching the project after DDs were sent. This issue is being followed up with the project and Asha-wide treasurer. * Purna Pragna Trust – 3 minutes (Suchi) Suchi looked into NSS (National Service Scheme) involvement in PPT administration. She talked to few NSS members from one of Asha AnnArbor's project. Help needed in contacting any NSS members at University of Mysore . * Mahila Samakhya – 3 minutes (Hitesh) Provided information about the Mahila Samakhya/KGBV residential school project. We are looking for people to actively participate and contribute to the development of a sustainable community campus. We are looking for help to investigate community radio. Announcement of Event Treasury process – 5 minutes (Deepak -- Indira not available) Jui, Sudhi will be treasury reps for 5K and Marathon respectively. 5. Asha-Detroit networking, fairs, and IASA updates (5k + marathon) and help needed - 5 minutes (Deepak, Nisha -- Sanchari/Senthil not available) Nisha – Exploring announcements/ publicity opportunities at DTA, Kerala Club and MAPI. Sanchari/Senthil - Publicity at fairs – India day, Festival of India @ Hart Plaza Volunteeres needed for publicity at fairs. Venkat Sahai – will help out IASA with GDOS 6. Recruitment initiatives – 5 minutes (Priya K) Priya will be leading the initiative to recruit volunteers 7. Summary of NetIP 10k event – 5 minutes (Hitesh) About a dozen people showed up for the 10k. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Several people (3-6) expressed interest in the 5k run/walk and 3-4 people signed up. Hitesh mailed the filled out 5k forms to the AfE P.O. Box in Troy . Lavanya will pick up the forms from the P.O. Box and register them online. 2 people expressed interest in helping with the 5k & TeamAsha. Hitesh provided virtual introductions to the 5k & TeamAsha leads. 4 people expressed interest in buying the TeamAsha T-shirt. A number of people expressed interest in TeamAsha. Hitesh mailed the information signup sheet to Sudhi. The TeamAsha t-shirt will be sold for $15 + shipping. Lessons learned: . Need to get a vinyl banner. The one that was printed did not stand up to the rain. . Sudhi will investigate getting cookies for the booth from Sams’. 8. We only have 45 days left. 9. 5k updates – 5 minutes (Jui) Need to get DCAN sponsorship update from Venki. 5K team to focus on recruiting efforts.
