Our Projects
Project Amardeep
Project Amardeep
is a new project funded by ASHA in 2009. It is a school for
urban slum kids located in Indore, in Central India, in the
state of Madhya Pradesh and is managed by Babaji India
Foundation, a US based trust registered in Indore. The
objective of the project is to run an English medium school
for slum kids with a focus on computer literacy.
Started in April 2005 with five students, the
school has 73 children currently enrolled. Today it also
employs 3 dedicated teachers and a helper. The children are
taught in English, with emphasis in Math and Science. The
curriculum is heavily computer oriented so that graduating
students will be computer literate and stand in good stead to
get a job, pursue further education and work towards a secure
future. The school also provides them with a clean, healthy
and loving environment to help them grow as individuals, gain
confidence in themselves and achieve their full potential.
Requirements:
The monetary requirements of the school are for
the following:
-
Benches for children
-
Lab equipment, Computers, printers etc.
-
Playground equipment
-
Salaries for the teachers
Funding:
Earlier this year ASHA for Education, (Eindhoven
chapter) funded the school with €1500. This money will be
spent towards meeting some of the above mentioned expenses.
ASHA will be closely monitoring the school activities and
based on a good progress record looks forward to continue and
extend funding in the future.
