Project Nirmaan

Nirmaan is about the construction and furnishing of class rooms of Saraswati Sishu Mandir (SSM) school. SSM is located in a small town called Timarni in the district Harda in Madhya Pradesh. With an annual strength of 400 students, SSM is one of the two schools in the town which provides education until higher secondary level. 90% of the students attending the school come from rural-agricultural families.

Currrently, SSM has 8 concrete rooms and 6 semi-concrete rooms with poor basic school amenities like desks, chairs, etc. Due to infrastructural constraints, the school has to be run in two shifts. Most of the classes are not equipped with desks and chairs and therefore, the students have to sit on the foor.

The proposed expansion plan consists of two phases. The first phase consists of constructing ten concrete classrooms, a big central hall and hygienic facilities like toilets. The second phase includes furnishing the classrooms, like equipping the classrooms with desks, chairs and other required amenities.

The extent of financial support by Asha Eindhoven in the proposed expansion plan is under consideration.
