About Trigger
"Growing numbers of Indo people are now marching towards UQE (Universal Quality Education) by 2047. This long journey would bear great meaning if it begins with salvation for disabled children, impaired girls in particular. I am glad to be a part of the dynamic asha-special team that is working hard to make it happen", Dr. D P Prakash, Burlington, Vermont

Mission
The mission of Project Trigger is to demonstrate connected action among disabled children's projects located in 5 corners of India.
Abstract
This project is actually a super project comprising of 5 diverse projects centered in 5 zones of India. Each zone has a coordinator and each zonal project has a theme driven by ground realities. Each project has a name given by the zonal teams to reflect the essence of the project and as a vote for peace around the world. The Asha Special focus group is coordinating this project worldwide.
Objectives
- The ultimate goal is to trigger a chain reaction that brings large scale socio-economic change for disabled children in India.
- Initiate new projects where necessary, and wherever possible cooperate with NGO partners who are already engaged in good work helping the disabled, especially disabled girls.
- Demonstrate through close and equal partnerships, zonal projects in 5 corners of India to raise awareness of different aspects of disability.
- Spark an India-wide feel and a new national consciousness about disability issues.
- Offer through the pilot "super project", scalable and replicable solutions to India-wide volunteer community, by sharing learning and resources for maximum benefit of disabled children.
Value proposition
- It expands Asha's boundaries - to include disabled volunteers for the first time. Prof Vileen, Jagdish, Shivaji are the first 3 blind volunteers of Asha. They are in leadership position in this project, actively guiding policy level decisions and personally taking charge of zonal projects. Through such volunteers of high caliber, Asha will set an example for all NGOs to be inclusive.
- It impacts large numbers of children - strike Quality x Quantity balance. The South zone is aiming to ultimately improve the quality of lives of 40,000 disabled children in the Chennai vicinity. The other 4 zones are starting up high quality initiatives. By combining the learning across these projects, we have a real shot at achieving the elusive Quality x Quantity balance.
- It promotes emergence of credible leadership - by leveraging connected action across India. For the last 12 years Asha's projects have been distributed across more than 20 states of India. Learning "across projects" has not been as high as can be - solutions were fragmentary. This projects breaks new ground by starting with a core value for *connection across projects* right from the beginning. We aim to leverage the collective wisdom and learning and thereby offer total and high quality solutions for disabled children. When we succeed, asha-special will evolve to be a "center of competence" for leadership in empowering disabled children of India.
- Team work - 5 chapters of Asha are collaborating in non-monetary ways to achieve a greater result than would otherwise be possible.
