The Asha Conference - 10 years of growth

Asha 10 conference

In our 10th year, Asha for Education held the 3rd all-chapter conference in Berkeley where it all began. The Asha-10 conference was held from Saturday, May 26th to Monday, May 28th (Memorial Day Weekend). It was the most well-attended Asha conference (kudos to Asha-Berkeley for great organization!).

What was this conference about?

It was about clearing our doubts as to what we should work on and coming up with a coherent vision and an action plan to implement it. The objective of the conference can be summarized into the following:

  • To take stock of the last 10 years of Asha's existence

  • To strengthen the ties between the India and the US groups

  • To come up with a coherent vision for the entire group

  • To develop an action plan to implement that vision

Top 5 action items:

Increase Asha-India volunteer base

Learn about the Government programs

Learn about other chapter programs

Project success measurement metrics need to be defined/ clarified

Project monitoring needs to be clearly defined

Harbingers of Hope:

Twenty two Asha volunteers took the streets of Hawaii by storm running a blistering 26.2 mile Marathon. This unique event which took birth in the Silicon Valley chapter, came to fruition to eventually become Asha's biggest fund raising event to date raising $ 100,000

In an one-two punch, Asha volunteers once again ran a similar Marathon in Vancouver, BC raising a similar amount
