ASHA: Minutes of meeting (25th Feb)

Meeting was from 7.05pm to 8.20pm; 319 Union South

*Vidhi's visit to Projects in India:
  #In her show and tell session, Vidhi distributed:
  - Asha Chawanaprash - it tastes good! (and vouched for by volunteers)
   - Photographs of  activities at Little Star School
   - Little Star School budget
   - Greeting Cards made at Bhallia
 #Vidhi volunteered to describe her visit for the Newsletter
  by the weekend
 #Had a discussion on how such schools allow kids to get back to
   mainstream society.
 #Asha Berkeley has managed to get some money to Asha Pandey. We need
  to figure out how to send money from Madison
 #A project in Phulenagar (Dharavi), Bombay was discussed. The primary
   target group is students who have finished seventh standard and drop
   out of classes. This school will provide vocational training. Sastry
   mentioned that an Asha MIT volunteer who had visited the project
   felt that the idea has not been completely thought through and they
   recommended waiting till there was more progress.
 #Another project in the Kamatipura area was mentioned.

*Sastry informed us about another vote for WAH.  Asha hai ki yeh akri vote hoga.

*Charu and Kamal released version 0.1.00 of the Asha Madison newsletter
  -Need to come up with a name for the Newsletter
  -Need to decide the contents
 -Decided to have a brainstorming session this weekend for the newsletter
 -There was a discussion on the necessity of the T-shirt design contest
  In the end it was decided to go ahead with the contest. Deepti suggested
  having early bird prizes to generate timely participation.
