ASHA: Discussion Group

Hello everyone!

A group of people are getting together as part of a discussion group to
educate (via study and discussion) ourselves on a specific set of problems
facing us as a society and facing India as a country.  Where possible, the
discussions will also be targetted at identifying possible solutions and
what we, individually as citizens and collectively as a group, might be able
to do.

The idea for this discussion group comes out of two places.  First is the
email exchange I had with Pradeep Sopory which culminated in his suggestion
of the formation of a study group.  The other source for this idea is
Dr.Parameswara Rao.  When he visited Madison about 2 weeks back, he suggested
the formation of a discussion group to facilitate "focussed" and "informed"
discussions.  When he brought together a group of people, he also outlined
a vision where these groups at different places (both US & India) worked
towards the common goal of coming up with a set of "action plans" that might
potentially be implemented to solve the various problems staring at us
in the face.

So, if anyone is interested, please join us today (Tuesday, 11th May) for
the first meeting.  The meeting is at 6:30 pm at the Memorial Union.
Check TITU for the room.  Look for "Asha Discussion Group".  My apologies
for the short notice, but, if anyone can't make it but is interested,
please send me a mail.  I'll keep you updated.
