- Little Stars: Vishal provided us with an update of where things stand with
  the funding.  Right now, Asha Pandey (she runs the school) has been unable to
  encash checks sent to her because she hasn't been able to obtain FCRA
  clearance as yet.  She is hooking up with the Asha chapter at Lucknow
  to resolve these issues.

- SECC/United Way: Navin volunteered to follow up on the possibility of
  Asha getting registered with SECC for monetary donations via payroll
  deduction.

- Zakir Hussain concert: Will pursue this as a fundraiser only in the event of
  this being a joint effort of multiple Asha chapters (the way it was originally
  proposed).  Subbu will try and find out the status of this.

- T-shirts: The current design of T-shirts are about 4 years old and we are
  running out of them.  There was a discussion about bringing out a new design.
  There was debate about how to go about getting a new design.  Some of the
  suggestions were:
  --> Come up with a theme and approach someone from the Arts depts. to design
      a T-shirt for us.
  --> Organize a contest where people come up with designs and pick the best
      one.
  --> Organize a (drawing, painting) contest for children and pick up one of
      their designs.  This might have some emotional appeal to it.
This has to be discussed more - will be followed up in future meetings.

- Interaction with other organizations/communities:
  [This is a summary of the discussion with my interpretation of it.  - Subbu]
  Right now, most volunteers happen to be Indian grad. students.  However, this
  need not be the case.  It will be a good idea to involve others in the effort
  too - undergrads., non-Indians, people from the Indian community.  So, a
  number of suggestions were made:
  --> Make presentations at other fora, ISA meeting, Orientation for new grad.
      students at Center for South Asia and a couple of churches.
  --> Organize social events to enable closer interaction with the Indian
      community.
  --> Ashutosh, Vidya, Venky (and Navin?) will be contacting various people
      in this regard.
  --> For starters, we'll be giving a spiel about Asha at the ISA meeting on
      the 22nd.
This needs more discussion.  Ideas/suggestions welcome.
