Attendees: Ashutosh, Kamal, Param, Subbu, Venki (Iyengar), Vidya, Vishal, Vinod, Charu, Annapurna - Some people from Asha-MIT are talking with Zakir Hussain about charges and other related issues. - IGSA is organizing a concert by Shafatullah Khan in March. It was decided that Asha will help them out with it - mainly, the publicity. There was some discussion about possible venues for the concert. Music Hall and Vilas Commn. Hall are 2 possible venues. [ The Mem. Union Theater is booked all thru' March. ] If these on-campus sites don't work out, then, West End High School (where the TNK concert was organized) is another possibility. - DP had sent out a mail about the Asha '99 conference and whether we would be able to host it at Madison. However, it was decided that it is probably not a good idea to do it here since we don't have the necessary resources to pull it off. - It was decided that a couple of people will meet the Peace Corps folks at one of their information seminars at Memorial Union when they are on campus between Feb 9th-11th. [ The Returned Peace Corps of Wis. have contributed towards the funding of the Swanirwar project. ] - Regarding T-shirts, there were some ideas about how to go about it. o Ashutosh mentioned that, at IIT-Bombay, St. Xaviers' College, Bombay, during the cultural festivals, there are some art design contests. He brought up the possibility of getting them to have a competition for a T-shirt design, but with a theme that we are interested in. Ashutosh will explore this possibility. o Vidya will contact people with the Arts Center here about whether they can help us out with this. o Annapurna mentioned that she knows someone at NIFT in India and she'll contact him if he could possibly come up with a design for us. However, we need a theme on which the design will be based. Literacy and education is what it'll be. However, if anyone of you have more specific ideas, please do send a mail to "sastry@cs.wisc.edu" - Charu volunteered to speak with some Indian families over here (that she knows) about how they could be involved with Asha and its activities.
