Minutes of Meeting of the Asha-Madison Core Group April 29th , 2007 4:00pm@ Union South Next Meeting: May 6, 2007: 4:00pm@Union South Volunteers in attendance: Satish, Sangeetha, Jigyasa, Ranjith, Badri, Jag, Niveditha, Amrish, Kamal and Pallavi Volunteers Absent: Cheran Discussions & Action Items: 1. Pallavi collected email addresses and fone numbers of all core volunteers - she will be emailing all contact information to Vishal from Central Asha. 2. Pallavi will remind Vishal to address Asha Madison’s alias ticket at WiKi. 3. Pallavi will email past minutes of meeting to cheran/badri 4. Pallavi handed over the list of new interested members’ emails to Kamal, who, has volunteered to take charge of adding new members to Asha Madison’s open yahoogroup. 5. Kamal will also gain moderator rights from Kiran for the open yahoogroup. 6. Sangeetha will be following up on opportunities for collaboration with United. 7. Ranjith to email reminders to all of the 10 remaining TT participants who still haven’t picked up their T-shirts. 8. Ranjith to forward to venkatesh I., questions asked by Jag, Jigyasa and some other volunteers about details of donors that should be recorded. 9. Sangeetha to follow up on any activities that Asha Madison can do at the AIA Mother’s Day celebration on May 5th. 10. Ranjith to hand over the duplicate key of the PO Box to another volunteer. 11. Badri volunteered to create a gmail account for the core group that could be used for accessing different yahoo groups of Asha for Education. It was decided, as per cheran’s idea that we would create different folders in this gmail account corresponding with different focus groups of Asha for Education. All core volunteers would have the password and username for this account. 12. Jag will communicate with Dr.Suresh Krishnan and invite him for future meetings, if interested. Dr.Krishnan has had past experience working with Asha. 13. There was a brief discussion about the next TT tournament let by Jigyasa. It was eventually decided that Asha Madison would arrange for another TT tournament in the weekend of May 19th (?). 14. Jigyasa will be working on planning the details of the TT tournament with the help of other volunteers. It was decided that the advertisement in Union South will not hold any open invitation to non-student Madison residents (since this is against univ. policies) 15. Pallavi was to attend the ASM RSO Office meeting on Wednesday May 3rd to arrange for meeting and office space for Asha for summer 2007. will get access to copier code, computer and door code for Room 303. IMP: SOAR meetings scheduled during weekdays (3pm to 8pm). 16. Badri and cheran will be working on updating the website even further. 17. Kamal and Niveditha introduced Balwadi to the group and there was a brief discussion about needing more details from the Balwadi group about their program and how is it helping in educationg children of poor workers. More details will come later as Niveditha and Kamal will explore into more details about the project. 18. Pallavi also briefly introduced The Residential school for abandoned kids supported by Aasra (a non-profit org in Thane, Mumbai). More details will come later. 19. Sangeetha will initiate working on a brochure about Asha Madison that can be handed out to our corporate donors in the future. Sangeetha will focus on the content of the brochure and will pass it on to the group to get feedback. Volunteers with other expertise areas (eg. Designing, etc.) will help finalize the presentation style etc. of this brochure. 20. Kamal will be sending a soft copy of our new publicity poster to sangeetha as a reference. 21. Jigyasa will be emailing to sangeetha the names/ emails of interested participants of the TT tournament who showed interest in working for Asha Madison for future events. 22. Badri will add donation icon(?) to Asha Madison’s updated webpage. 23. A few ideas were discussed about how can we can organize future fundraising and awareness raising events in Madison: Dinner for Charity (partnering with an upcoming or new Indian restaurant), organizing Bhangra social [Jag], concerts, organizing walks to raise funds, etc. 24. Sangeetha, Kamal, Niveditha, Ranjith and Pallavi volunteerd to attend the Tamil Sangam on May 13th. 25. Jag will be emailing Kiran for following up on Asha receipts.
