Minutes of the meeting held on 12th Sep 2001

Attendees: Ashutosh, Charu, Janet, Manoj, Murali P, Param,
           Ravi R, Ritu, Sai, Subbu

1. Janet described the large and vibrant Indian community in Durban
(and South africa in General).  She also talked about the M. L. Sultan
Technion and asked if we would be interested in helping it in any way.
Subbu and Sai said they would forward her contact info to anyone
interested.

2. Asha kickoff: There was a discuccion on whether it should be
postponed in light of the current events.  A decision was made to go
ahead with it (and it was held at Sai's house last thursday).

3. Subbu asked if a group wanted to go to Milwaukee for the Vinod
Raina talk (the talk was cancelled because of air travel problems).

4. Aparna Sindhoor Concert:  tasks were distributed among people:

      Poster: Manoj
      Brochure: Murali P
      Air Tickets: Subbu
      Accomodation: Nancy, Vidhi, Murali P
      Newspapers (event listings): Manoj
      WORT: Vidhi & Sai
      Email announcement: Ashutosh(send), Param(draft)
      Posters in Restaurants: Param
      Get detailed programme from Aparna: Subbu
      Dinner with performers after concert: Murali P

5. Projects: Khedoot & Apne Aap - awaiting further information

6. GIRD: Chandru has been trying to get in touch with them but hasn't
succeeded yet.  It was decided to communicate via a simple
old-fashioned letter.  We will recommend that he spend some time at
Swanirwar.  Murali will confirm that the Swarniwar people are OK with
that.

7. It was proposed that we discuss atleast one project in every
meeting - if not our own, then a project being supported by another
chapter.  Nobody took responsibility for organising these discussions.
