Asha-Madison is a chapter of Asha for Education, a non-profit voluntary organization dedicated to bring socio-economic change in India mainly using the medium of education. In addition, whenever possible, we also try to address other related issues such as health care, environment and women empowerment. We have no religious or political affiliation. Our aim is to mobilize the local population to collectively support and provide assistance in different forms to groups working at the grass roots in India. Since it's inception in 1991, Asha has raised over $4,000,000 and has directly supported 385 projects in 24 states benefiting thousands of children in India. Asha-Madison was formed by the merger of Tarang, a local voluntary organization at Madison, with Asha in 1994. So far, we have supported 12 projects in India and has disbursed nearly $20,000. We are also a registered student organization of the University of Wisconsin- Madison. Our volunteer meetings are open to anyone interested in social and developmental issues.
