MITRA Adivasi Education Project is one of the many projects that Asha's Mid-Hudson Valley (MHV) chapter supports. Dr. Jhonny Oommen will be talking about the MRSK school for tribal children. The school is nestled in the remote area of West Orissa, one of the most beautiful, yet also neediest parts of India. It is a place where electricity has yet to reach. Dr. Oommen will also talk about the Asha-MITRA Adivasi Education Project which is a project that promotes and facilitates education for Adivasi kids by working in conjunction with existing Government established schools. The initiative is modeled as a collaborative effort between the village and MITRA. Dr. Oommen has also done extensive work to help control the spread of malaria in the region. The talk will be a fascinating window into a region of India that is very rarely seen.
