Asha for Education is a secular, all-volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the education of underprivileged children in India. Asha in Indian language means 'Hope'. This hope helped the organization to grow from 3 volunteers since its inception in 1991 to over 1500 volunteers in 2009, with 73 chapters globally and 45 in US. Asha has raised over $15 million as of 2008 and supported more than 400 different projects spanning 24 states in India, while maintaining minimal overhead. Asha for Education has received a four star rating from Charity Navigator and was ranked #1 among the "top-ten slam-dunk charities" in 2005 and 2007.

Asha for Education, NYC-NJ chapter is proud to be celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2009 and extends a hearty thanks to every volunteer and donor who has helped to bring 'hope' into the lives of children in India. To commemorate its 15th anniversary, the chapter will host as 'Evening of Hope' benefit dinner on November 4th, 2009.
