Team Asha NYC/NJ 2008 is now officially under way with more than 80 runners! Here are some pictures from the saturday training runs

You pledge to raise money for Asha's cause and we'll see you through to the finish line. Simply sign up for our marathon training program. We provide personalized coaching, strategies and a support structure to people who want to run or walk an official full or half marathon. All we ask for in return is a pledge to raise funds for educational projects that Asha supports.

The Marathon program is a key fundraiser for Asha. The NYC/NJ chapter has grown from 5 runners in 2001 to over 50 in 2007. In the last 6 years, Team Asha NYC/NJ has raised more than $225,000 for educational projects in India. Across the USA Asha For Education has more than 500 runners who have collectively raised more than $1.2 Million. Overall, Asha has touched the lives of over 300,000 children in India from 385 different projects.

And as you give back to society, you will join other professionals in the New York region in realizing your athletic ambitions.

Give it a try and be surprised!

Who can join Team Asha?

  • Just about anyone who wants to run a full or half marathon. In the past, Team Asha runners have included doctors, lawyers, techies, students, bankers and stay-at-home moms. These have been people with little or no prior running experience as well as marathon veterans.

  • One does not have to be an accomplished athlete, or at peak fitness level to join the team. In fact, over 80% of Team Asha runners are new to running or any form of endurance sport.

  • Roughly 40% of Team Asha runners are women.

  • They have been between 22 and 45 years old.

  • Almost everyone who sticks with the program makes it to the finish line. We have a success rate of more than 99 percent (of runners who completed the training program).
